The stone is not too big (length 5.3 m, width 4.3 m, height 2.1 m, circumference 15 m), but since the early 20th century it has been a popular tourist destination. There is a lovely view of the Abava River valley from the rock.

This place is rich with legends and stories. One legend tells that once there was the Devil, who wanted to make a dam on river Abava. But he could not succeed, because the cock-crow took him by surprise. So, the rock had fallen down in the middle of a field, on the hilltop. The Devil’s Cave can be found in the Devil’s Cave Ravine only some metres away from the rock. The cave can be entered by crawling. It is approximately 8.5 m deep. The cave in its broadest place is 1.5 m high and 1.2 m wide. The ravine, where the cave is situated, is approximately 10 m deep. On the banks of the river, you can see the grey sandstone and dolomite outcrops. During the spring time and in wet conditions, you should be very careful, because the walls of the ravine are very steep and slippery.
