The Jaunpils Watermill was built in 1802 (1803). It still has the milling equipment, which was operated during 1920-ties/ 1930-ties, as well as the hydrotechnical structures and the water reservoir. The mill is one of the buildings of the Jaunpils Castle complex, situated in the Jaunpils Park, which was created in the 18th century during the reign of Baron von der Recke.
The mill can be visited individually using the mill guide or by taking a tour together with the Miller’s wife. With the help of a modern touch screen you can interactively learn about the history of the mill, the mill-grinding process and agriculture today.
Visitors can also learn about various grains, products made from these grains, and, by making advance arrangements, enjoy them in the form of a delicious pastry, pancakes or other treats.
