The Slow Mile is a section of highway about 6 km long between Ragaciems and Klapkalnciems. Legend has it that back in the day marauders used to attack travellers here, because the road was not only long, but also monotonous and uninhabited.
For those, who enjoy sunbathing or longs walks along the sea, there are more than 14 signs along the Slow Mile indicating “Uz jūru” (To the beach), showing the paths that will lead you through this band of forest directly to the shore.
At the end of the Slow Mile, about 1.5 km before Klapkalnciems (travelling from Ragaciems), in the dunes near the shore is a commemorative plaque dedicated to the battles fought by the Finnish Jägers, but in Klapkalnciems, there is a commemorative plaque for both the Finnish Jägers and German soldiers, who were interred in the War Cemetery.
