Peldanga labyrinth is an uncommon cave system for Latvia. In the result of spring activity, the cave labyrinth had formed in grey sandstone rocks of Devonian Aruküla and Burtnieki formations. This amazing object can be found next to the spring Liepniekvalks. The cave system has been cut in a 5 m tall and 20 m wide sandstone outcrop. In total the cave system is 70 m long, thus being the longest natural cave labyrinth in Latvia.
As usual for a labyrinth, it has even 5 entrances. Inside one bigger and two smaller rooms are hidden, and they are all connected via tunnels. These rooms could be perceived as honour halls of an underworld king as they have sandstone pillars and stacks, just like of a real Gothic castle.
In order to conserve the caves, they can only be seen from outside. There is also a risk of collapse.
A resting place has been arranged next to the slope.
Arrival: 9 km of the road Dundaga-Ģibzde, left side.
