The lake is located in the administrative unit of Puzes parish, Venstpils region. The average depth is 2,5 m, but the maximum depth is 6,5 m. The lake is located in the lake array of Stiklu Bog, connected to the Seklenes Lake, and together they form a water body consisting of two parts with a narrow land strip between them. In the past, it was possible to walk between both lakes, but now due to beaver activities, the water level has risen, and both lakes have joined together. The mirror square area of the Velnezers Lake is 7,5 ha.
