The sculpture is located in Kandava next to the old Stone Bridge. An acorn has become the symbol of Kandava. In 2010, the local resident Zigmunds Piņķis created this sculpture.
Kandava is an old town encircled with ancient oak-trees. The trees were there before the town itself. Also the coat of arms of the town depicts acorns and oak-tree leaves, and the open-air stage in Kandava has long been called "Ozolāji" (in Latvian – an oak-tree grove). The townspeople have restarted the tradition of making acorn coffee, which, if prepared correctly, is rather delicious. That is how the character "Acorn-kid" came about, inviting the travellers to go on a trip in the area of Kandava and in the ancient river valley of Abava.
