Mersrags Evangelical Lutheran Church – located at Bakas St. 9. The church dates back to 16th century.
The chapel, built in the 18th century, resembled a large dwelling house. The first Lutheran church in Mersrags was built in 1591. Circa 1700, B. Strems, the leaseholder of the Engure iron foundry, built a wooden church with shingle roof; in 1743, the church was renovated and expanded, with the addition of a steeple. The current wooden building of the church was built in 1809, and it was completely reconstructed in 1896. Up until 1920, Mersrags church was a branch of the church of Engure, and the services were held by the pastor of Engure. The church organ was renovated in 1924. The building underwent complete restoration in 2000–2002. It is one of the oldest wooden churches in Latvia. A number of state-protected cultural monuments are situated in the church (J. F. Sartori altarpiece “Christ with child”, 1793, J. Pipars painting “Jesus saving drowning Peter”, a church organ from the second half of the 19th century, a chandelier from the late 19th century, and more).
