Lutheran Church of leprosorium

Lutheran Church of leprosorium

The small church of leprosarium (built in 1936-1938, architect Jūlijs Biķis) makes this hospital building complex a unique phenomenon among other hospitals of contemporary Europe.

The church was built in traditional but diminished shapes in style of Neo-Classicism.

Liepāja wire factory presented the church bell in 1938. There is an inscription on the bell that tells “Jesus, dearest Lord, have mercy on us!”

The church is closed at the moment for visitors.
