The castle ruins of Skujene are located in the center of Skujene. The castle ruins are surrounded by two natural ravines and a 3-5 m deep dug ditch 20 m wide.
In written sources, the Skujene medieval castle is mentioned starting from 1440. There was also a chapel in the castle. The castle was burned down in the spring of 1559, during the Livonian War.
The ruins of the castle were used for the construction of the buildings of the Skujene manor. The ruins currently under inspection are the remains of two buildings of the Skujene manor.
