The first manor house was built in the middle of the 18th century, and the Russian Empress Elizabeth donated the manor to Wilhelm von Fermor, as his family was closely connected with Russia. It is interesting that one of the most famous paintings of the Russian artist Ivan Vishnakov, located in the State Museum in St. Petersburg, depicts the young lady Sarah Eleonor Fermor, Annas mistress from 1764-78.
Later, at the end of the 18th century the manor became the property of the Tranze family, one of the richest and most influential families in Vidzeme. The manor belonged to the Tranze family until the beginning of the 20th century. The barns, which have preserved from the former manor houses, were rebuilt into the folk house in the last century, later into the recreation centre. We completely renovated it between 2005 and 2009 and now it is ANNAS HOTEL.
Annas Manor’s forest park is designed for long walks and philosophical conversations. Spruce, linden, ancient oaks, even the manor's cemetery and countless water springs are the integral part of the park, telling about the relationship between nature and people for centuries. The manor park is an ideal place for wedding rituals, where the oaks that have accumulated the energy of nature give their blessing to the young family.
Right next to the manor park you will find Annas or Evil Lake. People say that the mole crickets squeak on the other side of the lake in the summer evenings, the noise of which has been attributed to the evil, as people did not know from where it came from.
The oldest inhabitants of the area still use the oldest name of the lake – Evil [Nelabais], while others have called it Annas Lake, adapting to the place. Walk through the manor forest park, go to the lake, maybe you will hear?
In 1793, the outstanding Latvian life researcher Garlibs Merkelis [Garlībs Merķelis] came to Anna's manor to work as a home teacher for the children of the Tranze family, the owners of the manor. Being the first Baltic German who so passionately defended the interests of the Latvian people, Merkel has gathered facts here to fight for the rights of the Latvian people and their liberation from serfdom in his articles. Annas inspired the outstanding Latvian life researcher to write an essay "Latvians, especially in Vidzeme at the end of the philosophical century", which was published in Leipzig in 1796. His words have become Annas motto: "... only in the lap of peace and freedom does the human spirit develop in its most beautiful flowers - the arts. ”
Annas Hotel - a place of silence and peace.
